Audacity??????

Every time I try to import an audio file on to Audacity, it says . for example "Bubbly is a Windows Media Audio File. Audacity cannot open this type of file due to patent restrictions. You need to convert it to a supported audio format." Why won't this work? I downloaded the standard version for Windows. Can any one please help with this? PLEASE? Thank-you!

Answer:Audacity can't do WMA files. You'll have to find a converter somewhere on the Internet, and convert your WMA files to mp3 or some other format that can be used with Audacity. Here's the link for the page with formats it can use: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/features

Using Audacity To Record Line In Guitar While Playing The Song?

Is it possible in Audacity, to play a song, while recording my guitar, which is a direct line in? I'd rather not worry about chopping and putting to files together, and hoping they are in sync. For example, can I play a song, and have it record the guitar part I am playing, while the song is playing in Audacity. Thanks!

Answer:You most definitely can. Just import the song and then hit record. The song will play and you can play over the song. You can even adjust the settings to have your lead higher in volume than the other song and you can switch the left and right positioning of each track. Audacity is pretty slick and I can't beleive it's free. Happy playing. Let me know if you need help with it. I'm just now getting used to it and seeing what it can do.

How Do I Get Audacity To Record Only What I'm Playing, Not What My Computer Is Playing?

Ok, Audacity is somehow recording sounds that are coming from my computer. That's kinda cool, but lets say I want to play along to a song that's playing on my computer, but I only want to record what I'm playing, not what my computer is playing. How do I get that to work?

Answer:Go to control panel . then to sounds . then make your mic . the default device . Best Regards.

How To Add Audacity Mp3 File To A Stop Motion Video With Framebyframe?

I made a stopmotion with framebyframe, yes it's for mac. I was wondering how to add the audacity mp3 file to it so it will stream together and make it look like my video is talking. Like its playdough people and the mouths move. I also need to know how to make the timing perfect because counting and talking into the mike doesn't work. HELP!

Answer:If you have your animation and sound already done, throw them together in a video editing program like Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, or Sony Vegas. If you don't have any of those and don't know how to get them, just use Windows Movie Maker. But usually what's done is your audio is recorded first, then broken down to see how long each sound takes so you can then animate to that timing. That way when you put the sound and the video together afterwards, everything is in sync. If you need any more help or info, let me know.

Free Software for Creative People: Building Digital Media with Blender, GIMP, Scribus, Audacity, and More
Price: $26.39
Author: Daniel James
Manufacturer: Apress

Free Software now offers a creative platform with world-class programs. Just ask the people who have completed high quality projects using open source desktop applications, or developed popular multimedia Web 2.0 sites using Free Software libraries. This phenomenon is no longer underground, or restricted to techies - there have been more than 61 million downloads of the Audacity audio editor, and more than 60 million downloads of the GIMP for Windows photographic tool, from SourceForge.net alone.

It used to be that creative software had a high barrier to entry, not least because of the complexity and cost of the programs. Even among those who could afford a Mac, many creative people have resorted to crackware in order to access the software tools that they need. Thanks to the generosity and expertise of Free Software creators, shady downloads and bootleg CD-ROMs are no longer required. With Free Software you can be a digital artist without paying an entrance fee, and almost any computer will do - but you still have to learn how to use your tools.

Free Software for Creative People is your foundation course in photographic manipulation, illustration, animation, 3D modelling, publishing, recording audio and making music, DJ'ing, mixing and mastering audio CDs, video editing and web content delivery. Every technique described in the book can be achieved on GNU/Linux, but many of the applications covered run on Windows and Mac OS X as well. New to GNU/Linux, and a little daunted? Don't worry, there is a step-by-step tutorial on Ubuntu, for either temporary use or permanent installation.

If you are a creative type who wants to get started with Free Software, or an existing GNU/Linux user looking to explore this category of programs, this is the book for you! Realize your own personal projects and ambitions with the tools this book will place at your fingertips.

What you’ll learn

  • Install and configure Ubuntu GNU/Linux for creative applications.
  • Get productive with Ardour, Audacity, Avidemux, Blender, FontForge, the GIMP, Hydrogen, Inkscape, Mixxx, Scribus, Synfig and other tools.
  • Chain these applications together and make them serve your creative vision.
  • Find and install the applications cross—platform, if you want to reach out beyond GNU/Linux.
  • Share your creative works with the world using Drupal Web 2.0 technology and Icecast media streaming.
  • Locate and engage with software and project hosting communities, to connect with other creators.

And you'll find out why being a part of the Free Software community means so much more than just saving money.
