Australia Post?

What are peoples opinions of Australia Post, their service inparticular?

Answer:Not much on their service - I've lost count how many times I've complained. I was waiting on very important papers from Tassie to North Qld - took 6 weeks in the mail to get here ! I can name at least 8 bills or letters that have been 'miss-placed by Aussie post'. I now send everything registered post, paying alot extra but at least I know it can be tracked. I remember the first time I complained .... I was on hold for 20 mins as the person that took my call didnt know how to handle a complaint or who to put me through too.... in the end I complained twice that day ! I assume you have had problems also ?

Australia Post: How Long Can An Airmail Parcel Wait At The Post Office Before Being Returned To The Sender?

I bought an item on ebay from an American seller two weeks ago, but the seller was only able to post on Wednesday the 3rd due to problems with pay pal sending the funds. The parcel is being sent via airmail; however I am doubtful that the parcel will arrive by Thursday when I leave for a 2 1/2 week holiday. I will be coming back on the 29th January 2007. I know that Australia post keeps the parcel in the local post office when it arrives and leaves a slip telling the receiver it is ready to be picked up, but there is a time which they return it to the sender and charge postage for it. It is a relatively heavy item ~ 5kg and cost around $50 to send. How long can it wait before they send the parcel back? Is there anything I can do to prevent them from sending it back? Would it still be there if I went to collect it on the 29th?

Answer:I'm not sure but I think it's only about 2 weeks that they hold a parcel for. BUT!! If you are going away for more than 1 week, why not fill out a mail holding form and get the post office to hold your mail till you get back? This way, if the parcel arrives while you are away, they will hold it till you get back. There is a small fee for it (unless you are on a pension) but it would be well worth it to you do this.

What Is The Easiest Way For Me To Send Post For Me To Collect In Australia?

I am currently travelling round Asia but will be settling down in Australia for a while. What is the easiest way for me to send post on to collect it. I have had a llok at Australia post's website but it looks like I may need to sort a po box out in person.

Answer:Best way the whole world over is pick a city, say Sydney, then get it sent to you c/- POST RESTANTE, GPO, Sydney, NSW, Australia. They keep it in a slot behind the counter, you front up give them your name show some ID and hey presto, instant mail call. They keep it for about a year and then send it back to sender if you don't stop in to pick it up. I did this all through Asia and even did it in NZ when I was travelling around. And you don't need to arrange in advance. International Postal systems are anarchy at its utmost best.

What Stamp Do I Use To Post A Small Package Anywhere In Australia?

On the Australia Post it says postage is $4, but I received a small package which only had a $1 stamp on it (& it got delivered). So what value of stamps do I need? Thanks :)

Answer:Depends on several things.. Size & weight of the parcel Where it's being sent from and where it's going to. Best way to check is either take it to the post office or go to http://www1.auspost.com.au/pac/

Inner City Sound: Punk and Post-Punk in Australia, 1976-85
Price: $24.95
Author: Clinton Walker
Manufacturer: Verse Chorus Press
The bands that spearheaded the late 1970s punk scene in Australia-the Saints, Birthday Party, Radio Birdman, and the Go-Betweens-are among the most important of their time. Inner City Sound is the classic account of the explosive development of that scene. Original articles from fanzines and newspapers, together with almost 300 photographs, vividly portray the creative ferment of the period and the dozens of bands that sprang up in the wake of the pioneers. First published in late 1981, Inner City Sound soon fell out of print. It became a lost classic, so sought after that it has been bootlegged like the rare singles listed in its discography. This new edition contains 32 extra pages of articles, photos, and discographic data, which take the story through to 1985, when Nick Cave, the Go-Betweens, the Triffids, and others began to break through internationally.

Price: $9.97
Manufacturer: Image Entertainment
UPC: 014381110722
Part travelogue, part music video and concert, Sugar Ray (Live from Australia) is the latest offering from the Music in High Places series, which presents various artists playing acoustically in exotic locales. The 60-minute (plus bonus material) program finds singer Mark McGrath and his four bandmates performing nine tunes (including the popular and winning "Someday" and "Every Morning," among others), alternating with segments showing the band checking out the land Down Under and its flora and fauna, from giant crocodiles to tiny bats. They're a personable, amiable bunch of guys (especially McGrath, who does most of the talking and is surprisingly interesting and knowledgeable), making for an unusual and fun ride. --Sam Graham
