Buffalo, NY?

We are planning a trip to Buffalo, NY to see the Niagara Falls, and visit Ontario, Canada. Is possible to see any snow in this area on the thanksgiving weekend.

Answer:I live in Buffalo. Yes, it is common to see snow in November, but it's just as likely you'll see dry roads and bare trees. Yes, you might see snow. No, don't get your hopes up too high because I'd hate to see you disappointed. Some pictures of Buffalo Snow on my web site: http://www.hellotim.net/pictures/snow/snow.html Enjoy your trip.

How Is The Weather Of Buffalo NY As Compared To Boston?

Hello I might move from Boston to Buffalo and would like to know How is the weather of Buffalo NY as compared to Boston. I am more concerned of cold weather then snow. Kindly advice. Thanks.

Answer:I dont know about Boston, but I do know Buffalo having lived here for 17 years. It is pretty harsh in the winter when it comes to snow especially in the southtowns. Areas like the Tonawandas, Grand Island, and Niagara Falls are generally less affected, but still experience snow. The lake-effect normally lands in the city and below. Summers are about 80 degrees in the city, and again, cooler heading North. Any area around the water will be about 10 degrees cooler. It starts to get cold around halloween and finally begins to snow by mid-december (we didnt have snow for this past christmas though). Any more specific questions, I would be happy to answer.

How Much A Week Do I Need To Make In The Buffalo,NY Area To Have An Apartment And Car Payment?

I am thinking about moving to NY state around the Buffalo area. I have a car payment of about $300 a month. How much per hour would I need to make to pay for an apartment and my car note?

Answer:All depends on where you want to live. The Buffalo housing market is remarkable in that it is extremely affordable but in a good way. The Buffalo market did not have its bubble burst like the rest of the country. Housing has always been rather cheap in the area. You'll find the cheapest rates in the inner city, although crime is some of the drawback (Buffalo being the third poorest city in the nation). There are plenty of places to rent in the suburbs, though, that offer affordable housing. I can't give you an exact figure of how much you would need to make. All depends where you want to live in the area. I would say average rent for a one bedroom ranges anywhere from $500-$1200/month, again, all depending on where in the area you are looking at. Most prices tend to be around $750/month But nevertheless, welcome to the City of Good Neighbors! We're glad to see people moving IN to the area and not OUT.

Buffalo's Waterfront (NY) (Images of America)
Average Rating: 5.0
Price: $21.99
Author: Thomas E. Leary
Manufacturer: Arcadia Publishing
The history of Buffalo, New York, is intimately bound with its waterways. Located for generations at the easternmost navigable end of the upper Great Lakes and the western terminus of the Erie Canal, Buffalo flourished first as a commercial hub, then as a center of major industry, all due largely to its location. Buffalo was the birthplace of the modern grain elevator and continues as the leading flour milling center of the nation. It was home to one of the first lakefront steel mills, and was a center for commercial coal and lumber traffic. A glance through Buffalo's Waterfront provides crystalline views of bygone days. The images within cover the period of Buffalo's major economic strength from the immediate post-Civil War period through the 1950s. Memories captured by photographs abound on every page, showing wooden grain elevators and cargo docks, whaleback steamers and two-masted schooners, Erie Canal shanties and their inhabitants, and tranquil summer days aboard passenger steamers plying the waterways for all to enjoy.
