I live in ann arbor and thinking about taking a job at henry ford hospital any suggestions ?

Answer:Which one? There are several hospitals in the Henry Ford group. If you're talking about Henry Ford Hospital in downtown Detroit, be prepared for a commute of one hour each way down "lovely" I-94. I hate driving in traffic, so I wouldn't take it, but that's me.

I would prefer a short commute around 20 minutes and nothing too suburban (no kids).
Answer:Which one? There are different branches. I'd say your best bet would be Royal Oak. It's close enough to most of them and is a nice area with a lot of younger (20-30 yrs old) people. It can be on the more expensive side in some areas. But it has a great night life and tons of stuff to do during the day too.

This article disgusts me. While the rest of Detroit, and the nation's economy goes south, Henry Ford hospital is pumping out the amenities when they know hospital bills are already outrageous. People are going bankrupt for this garbage.
I went to UM's hospital in Ann Arbor one time when I broke a collarbone. What I had done in that fancy hospital could've been done in a village clinic in Nepal. Who are they kidding?
Mr. Knowledgeable, some basics on an economy. If a local economy is depressed, a service industry such as the health care one shouldn't be expanding, especially with the inclusion of the amenities this hospital has. It's a recipe for disaster. If you're broke, you're going to be even more broke after going to that hospital.
More jobs? These are not real jobs. Real jobs are production and manufacturing, stuff that actually brings money into Detroit's economy. Educate yourself.

You think hospital jobs are real jobs? If people keep getting laid off and lose their health insurance, how will they pay for their care? They won't have any money to keep the collections agencies off their back. Do the math friends, it's not a real job. Answer:I work in a hospital and consider it a "real job." I have steady income and full benefits. Health care will never be a dying industry. People get sick, have babies and die whether or not they have insurance. And hospitals, more know than ever, work to help people without insurance. I work at a hospital in downtown Pontiac and we are in the process of building a new hospital in Clarkston. Do you feel that we are wasting our money?
As for the new Henry Ford, it is very similar to Genesys in Grand Blanc and that facility is doing just fine.
