What Is The Best Beach In Isle Of Wight In Your Opinion?

I want to go to the Isle of Wight this weekend but I'm not sure about what beach is better?

Answer:Sandown will be your best bet. It's a lovely sandy beach and if you travel to the Island from Portsmouth Harbour Station on the fastcat to Ryde, you can connetc to a train that takes you to Sandown. The last stop is Shanklin, whichh also has a good beach. You can also connetc with the train if you were to catch the hovercraft from Southsea seafront to Ryde. If, of course, you are going by car, more beaches become easily accessible, like Compton Bay. However, theree are no facilities available like theree are at the main beaches of Sandown & Shanklin.

What Is The Best Way To Travel From Bournemouth Airport To Ryde On The Isle Of Wight?

I want to travel to the Isle of Wight to visit a friend. The plan is to travel from Cork, Irealnd to Bournemouth with Ryan Air as the flights cost northing (litorally, only taxes and charges) and the flights to Southampton cost around 100euro. What is the fastest/cheapest/most efficient way to travel from Bournemouth airport to the Isle of Wight?

Answer:Train to Portsmout/Southsea and then the Ferry http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/SWTrains http://www.aferry.co.uk/timetable/PortsmouthHarbourRydeWightlinkuk.htm These sites will give you the information you need and you can get the tickets when you arrive.

What Is The Regular Distant Booming Noise I Hear From The Southeren Tip Of The Isle Of Wight?

I work on the southeren point of the Isle of Wight and often (at least a couple of times a week, often more)theree is a regular distant booming like huge guns or explosions, going on for up to an hour. They are deep and you feel them more than hear them. Some people don't seem to hear them at all but they frigthen the birds, they squawk and fly away. I am hearing them now at about 30 second to 1 minute intervals. I have been hearing it for at least eight or nine years. I haven't heard it on othere parts of the coast of the Island and my friends who live in Freshwater Bay never hear it whichh must be something to do with the angle. I assume it is a military base somewhere, Bournemouth way maybe? Whatever it is, it freaks me out. I have never liked it. Does anyone know what it is?

Answer:Could be supersonic military jets in training out at sea breaking the sound barrier.

when Is The Best Time To Visit Isle Of Wight?

I am base in London and planning on a short break to isle of wight. is the island worth visiting or is theree any othere recommendation? so you reckon anytime after 8th august would be good. how about early september? Do you think 3 days 2 nights will be enough. thanks sexxxx on legssss

Answer:It is a realtive small island, with a good bus system, but it takes a whole day to do a coastal tour around the island by bus, that does not leave you any time to stop off and visit things. You can of course bring your own car (the ferries are as expensive as those to France,) driving the small and winding roads. If you do not feel a compulsion to see all of the island, 3 days will give you a good tastee. I loved it theree, it is like using a time machine, back to the England of the 1950's.

Isle of Wight (Amazon.com Exclusive) [Blu-ray]
Average Rating: 5.0
Price: $16.99
Director: Murray Lerner
Manufacturer: Sony Legacy
UPC: 886975882991
Nearly 40 summers ago on August 31, 1970, 35-year-old Leonard Cohen was awakened at 2 a.m. from a nap in his trailer and brought onstage to perform with his band at the third annual Isle Of Wight music festival. The audience of 600,000 was in a fiery and frenzied mood, after turning the festival into a political arena, trampling the fences, setting fire to structures and equipment - and stoked by the most incendiary performance of Jimi Hendrix's career.

As Cohen followed Hendrix's set, onlookers (and fellow festival headliners) Joan Baez, Kris Kristofferson, Judy Collins and others stood side-stage in awe as the Canadian folksinger-songwriter-poet-novelist quietly tamed the crowd. Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Murray Lerner (From Mao To Mozart, Festival, Message To Love), perfectly captured Cohen's performance. Likewise, Columbia Records staff A&R producer Teo Macero did a brilliant job of supervising the live audio recording.

This Blu-ray, transferred from the original 16mm film into High Definition, contains this new, beautiful film documentary by Lerner featuring interviews with fellow festival performers and Cohen's classic songs, poetry and stories.

In 1970 The Moody Blues were at their creative and commercial peak. After reinventing themselves from their R&B roots to a much more sophisticated sound, between 1967 and 1970 they released five albums, four of which hit the Top 5 in the UK with two of them going to No.1. They enjoyed similar success in the USA where four of the albums hit the Top 20 and the other was just outside. At the end of August 1970, shortly after the release of their album "A Question Of Balance", The Moody Blues took to the stage of the Isle Of Wight Festival in front of an audience estimated at over half a million. This DVD makes that performance available to be seen for the first time.

Marriages of Isle of Wight County, Virginia, 1628-1800 : With a New Index
Price: $19.50
Author: Blanche Adams Chapman
Manufacturer: Clearfield
The marriages in this work are founded upon the records of the ancient shire of Isle of Wight and include marriages from the area of present-day Southampton County, erected from Isle of Wight in 1749. They derive chiefly from inferential sources, in particular will books, deed books, and order books, though marriage bonds, ministers' returns, and Quaker records also figure significantly in the list of sources. Since comparatively few marriage bonds or official marriage records of Isle of Wight County prior to the year 1800 survive, the great importance of this compilation is at once apparent. The marriages, with the exception of those based on ministers' returns, are arranged alphabetically by the name of the groom, following which is given the name of the bride, the name of a parent or surety, the date of the marriage or marriage record, and the exact source citation. Some 6,300 persons are identified, everyone of whom, including grooms, is cited in the index.
