This survey of lichens on Bureau of Land Management properties on the south shore of Lopez Island, San Juan Islands, Washington State is by Dr. Fred M. Rhoades lichenologist/mycologist from Bellingham, Washington. The document is Volume 9 of the Douglasia Occasional Papers published by the Washington Native Plant Society. It includes a historical and descriptive review of the diverse lichen habitats along this shore that are typical of such marine locations throughout the Northern Puget Sound region. The bulk of the report is a taxonomic listing of 193 species including color photographs of habitat types, all of the most common lichen species and some of the more unusual species.
