I am trying to tell my friend that even if you use a condom, you can still get herpes and stuff like that so do you know all the diseases you can still get even with a condom?

how Soon After You Have Sex With Someone Should You Get Tested For HIV Or Any Sexual Transmitted Diseases?

I had sex recently with someone recently without condom. Not something I usually do. Keep worrying about getting a disease want to get tested but feel it may be too early. It has only been a week should I get tested as soon as possible or wait a little bit more?

Answer:Some STDs would have symptoms by now. Otheres you can probably get tested for anti-bodies at the 2 week mark. An HIV test will not detetc the presense of the HIV virus immediately after exposure. Statistics show that 96% (perhaps higher) of all infetced individuals will test positive within 2 to 12 weeks. In some cases, this may take up to six months.

From the supplier: Genital herpes, as of 1997, can be treated but not cured, and is usually contracted through genital-genital contact. Herpes simplex virus type 1 is usually transmitted through oral-genital contact. Genital herpes is not reported in Canada as a sexually transmitted disease, but clinical reports suggest it is widespread. Transmission risk is affected by lack of condom use. The spread of this disease can be controlled by public education, cost/benefit analysis of therapy, improved screening tests, and planning for the eventual use of a vaccine.

Price: $63.95
Author: Michael W. Ross
Manufacturer: Praeger Publishers
Psychovenereology investigates the psychological factors in human disease (i.e. personality and lifestyle) and their effect on the rate of contraction of sexually transmitted diseases. It also describes the associated illnesses among people who contract sexually related disease and how social mores affect the individual's perception of the disease and how that perception, in turn, affects compliance with treatment. The book also addresses the whole chain of events ranging from high-risk behavior and its psychological determinants to the direct causes of infections and their psychological implications. Concentrating on the homosexual male, this book describes the growing field of psychovenereology and suggests educational and preventative techniques which can help break the psychological patterns of infection related behavior.
