Answer:Skill levels go up for every usage of the skill, from Barter, to Acrobatics, to Restoration. Best way to level up spell skills - create a 3pt 1sec spell on self for each, call it "Level [skill]". For example, a 3pt 1 sec Corrode Armor on Self, call it "Level Dest". (Also lets you level Armorer real fast if you are not wearing enchanted armor - that's why I use this one instead of 3pt1sec fire on Self) For Restoration, I suggest using a buff skill, like Fortify Agility. Restoration is one of the slowest leveling skills, too, btw. You can do this leveling anywhere! Not just in Oblivion, but your actual rl house. I've leveled up magic skills while making spaghetti, doing laundry, or even watching SciFi Fridays (leave the xbox on and switch the component to TV). just make sure your controller is charged up, and cast away! It will take a minnit, but you can have all your magic at level 50 real quick. And it's not cheating, it is fully using the game to your advantage - in game, time still passes - think of it as wizard's studying. Works best if none of them are your major skills, because you get more powerful, but don't level, so the enemies don't get tougher. (I created a character that did not use any of it's major skills, and beat the game at level 1 - never fought anything tougher than an easy skeleton or clannfear.) Conjuration is the best to level a bunch of skills - in a secluded area, summon a regular skeleton, hit it 3 times (level whatever melee you use) then let it hit you while you block until it runs out (levels block), heal yourself (lvl rest), repair armor (lvl armorer) and repeat (level conj). Good luck! p.s. and also, there are some scrolls in the area you get the quest that will help you out.
