How Much Are One Cent George Washington Post Stamps Worth?

I have some old George Washington post stamps, I don't know what year they are but they are both one cent stamps, green, one looks like the George Washington from the dollar bill (except he is looking right instead of left) and the other is the same picture as on quarters. They are both post stamped. Are they worth any money?

Answer:The first one might be like this http://stampstore.org/sto_DisplayImage.asp?Image=0810/208101030H.jpg except he's facing the same way on the dollar bill. If this is the one, it's from about 1954 and American collectors would call it United States Scott number 1031 or 1031b. Both are very common and are of minimal value. Your second one is more difficult because there are about 29 different American stamps that look like that but which vary by watermark and perforation and details of printing. They were first issued between 1912 and 1921. They range from common to rare and are priced accordingly. (But unless you are a collector, why would a rare one come into your possession?) Here's an example of one of them for comparison: http://stampstore.org/sto_DisplayImage.asp?Image=0810/208101030H.jpg

How On Earth Did Juan Williams Get Hired By The Washington Post If All He Had Was A BA In Philosphy?

After Juan Williams graduated from college with a BA in philosophy he was immediately hired on at the Washington Post and worked as a journalist and editor and writer. How on earth did that happen? How do you get a job as a journalist if you don't have a journalism degree? Yeah, I guess maybe you can if they "like" you.

Answer:A lot of reporters don't have journalism degrees. If they can write and think and get a story, they can do the job. That's like asking how I got my public relations job when all I have is a BA in psychology. Well, college level learning is generalizable learning, and any liberal arts or social science degree enables someone to use what they learned in application to other topics. In short, these are broad degrees for thinking people. So I'm sure he was "qualified".

Where Can I Download The EXACT Font That The Washington Post Uses And The EXACT Font That The NY Times Uses?

I really like the blackletter fonts that the Washington Post uses at the top of its front page. Does anyone know where I can download this font or the font that the New York Times uses. I think it would look really good for a project I am doing.

Answer:The nameplates or logos of these newspapers were originally hand drawn and while they have been updated for the digital age, no fonts are available. The logos themselves are copyrighted and cannot be reproduced without permission. However, they are available in vector format from brandsoftheworld.com Of course, this has not stopped font enthusiasts from creating fonts based on the letters in the NYT nameplate and there are similar blackletter fonts, for example, English Towne. http://jebbis.imbaserver.no/fonter/index.php?dl_file=fonter/N/NewYorkTimes.ttf http://www.moorstation.org/typoasis/designers/steffmann/samples/e/engtowne.htm

Should I Read The New York Times Or The Washington Post?

I'm moving to Washington, DC in August to begin studies at the George Washington University. I'm planning on double-majoring in political science and economics. I read the newspaper every day and have had a subscription to the New York Times for about a year. I plan on maintaining my daily paper reading, but don't know which one would be best to read. The times is about $1 more than the Post and I will be on a very strict budget. Thanks!

Answer:I have the Washington Times delivered. I also read the Washington Examiner (free). I also read USA Today on line. This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America. Please pick an answer as the best answer, even if it is not mine.

Is The Washington Post Available In Boston In Print?

I've looked around at a few newsstands, and can't find any copies of the Washington Post. I was wondering if anyone knows a place to pick up a print copy. Thanks!

Answer:At your Border's or Barnes and Noble. Local library for viewing only.

The artistry of Jimmy Bruno and Jack Wilkins is extraordinary. Here is an opportunity to enjoy their music, as performed on handmade Benedetto guitars, in a warm, intimate setting. It doesn't get any better than this... the music is so superb that it sounds rehearsed. Like Sinatra, Bennett, Davis, and others, Jack and Jimmy are among the elite in what they do... truly "Close Encounters of the Jazzy Kind!"
