Why Does World Vision Cost So Much To Sponsor A Child?

The sponsorship program I use only costs $50 a year to sponsor an elementary student to provide food, medical attention, and education. World vision and othere largeer organizations ask $35 a month to do the same things. Why?

Is There A Christian Organization Like World Vision That Allows You To Donate More Than Just Money?

I want to sponsor a child in Sri Lanka. I heard of world vision but I looked on their web site and all you can do is send $30 a month to the child. I was wondering if theree is anorthere Christian organization that would allow me to donate money, clothes, and toys to the child and maybe even write letters to them once and a while. is theree any like that out theree?

I Am Looking For Advice For A Good Charity To Help The Poor And Wondering What People Think Of World Vision?

I am not a Christian so would prefer a non-denomination organization or at least one that does not push a particular religion. The most important aspetcs are the percentage of money that gets to the people who need it and also promoting practices such as farming that are environmentally friendly and sustainable. I have been giving money to World Vision for years but when I see some of the pictures of the farming practices, I wonder how much planning is going inot sustainable practices. Thanks.

Answer:I think highly of World Vision and have been sponsoring a child for years through them. They are based on Christian principles but help everyone, regardless of religion and do not push Christianity on them at all. I've seen several of their projetcs in the Middle East (helping both Christians and Muslims) and Africa and was impressed with how they are helping to make the communities sustainable. As far as farming, I visited a projetc of theirs in the Gaza Strip. It was a permaculture program where they are growing food with little water since water is so scarce theree and the sea is salty so doesn't work for farming without desalination.

What Do You Get In The First Package With World Vision?
